Caring For Your Products

Whether your product is made from reclaimed, live edge or solid wood, each piece is individual and has it’s own unique character, meaning it needs to be properly cared for.

Reclaimed wood will have visible signs of its old life such as wear, dents and cracks, which will all be beautifully sanded smooth.

Live edge and solid wood products are entirely natural and will differ in colour and grain. There may be the occasional small hole in the wood made by bugs in the forest but your wood has been fully seasoned and treated since then, so is entirely bug-free and safe for use.

All wood should be cared for with love. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasives. A warm damp cloth or an antibacterial (non-bleach) spray will clean your reclaimed/live edge wood.

Shelving & Table Tops:

Do not allow the shelf/table to get wet. If it does get wet, wipe up the liquid as soon as possible to avoid marks. If your product does suffer any accidental damage then you can give it a light sand with 220 grit sandpaper & apply wax.

Bath-boards:

Bath-boards have been sanded through various stages & then finished with your choice of hard wax oil.  These hard wax oils are highly durable & water repellent however, your bath-board is not waterproof & should not be submerged in water.

Ensure you wipe it dry with a clean soft cloth after each use and do not allow surface water to sit on the board for any length of time to prevent watermarks.

Chopping Boards:

Chopping boards should be cleaned with a warm, damp cloth and antibacterial spray. Wood is not dishwasher compatible & you should not submerge wood products in water.

Your chopping board has been thoroughly sanded & finished with at least two coats of superior quality Mineral oil. Your wood needs to be cared for to ensure it remains food safe & in good condition. I strongly recommend you purchase a small bottle of Mineral oil, which is food safe. Oil once per week for the first month, once per month for three months, then you should be able to oil your wood once or twice a year to maintain its peak condition.

If your board becomes slightly grainy to touch over time, simply give it a light sand with 220 grit sandpaper & re-oil it with Mineral oil to bring it back to its peak condition.
